Strive Hive “Working together for a better future”
Strive Hive is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals who have faced some of life’s most challenging circumstances.
Many men and woman who experience homelessness, addiction, or have been recently released from incarceration often feel they have no viable path to reintegrate into society and rebuild their lives.

Our program model strives to create an environment which brings self-sufficiency and recovery to all that participate and promotes services maximizing our men and woman’s dignity and self-determination.
Our mission is both straightforward and profound:
We offer a chance for individuals who have run out of options to create a brighter tomorrow.

At Strive Hive, our goal is simple:
to provide opportunities to those who have been overlooked, so they can have the chance to build a better future.

Through our work, we help participants thrive within the safety and community of our “hive,” offering them opportunities for personal growth and transformation.

We support our participants through several core pillars:
1. Temporary Housing: Recognizing that it’s nearly impossible for someone to focus on work and self-improvement without a stable place to call home, we provide secure temporary housing. This enables our participants to concentrate on rebuilding their lives without the stress of homelessness.
2. Personal Development:
We focus on helping individuals improve their approachability, communication, hygiene, and overall sense of pride in their appearance and professionalism. By equipping them with these essential life skills, we foster an environment of growth and empowerment.
3. Job Training:
Through comprehensive job training, we teach valuable, transferable skills. Participants gain hands-on experience, including working with us at a series of California fairs, where they are provided with clean room and board, access to bathrooms with showers, and a supportive team environment. In addition, participants are given the opportunity to earn certifications, such as food handler’s certification, and basic mechanic skills, further enhancing their employability.
4. Skill Development:
Each day, we hold meetings to set expectations, discuss the skills they are learning, and explain their significance. Participants are trained in teamwork, communication, and how to set up and maintain concession stands. Participants learn essential skills like operating cash registers, preparing food in a commercial kitchen, and interacting with customers, all within a real-world setting.
5. Individualized Support:
We treat every participant with dignity and respect, considering their unique interests and goals.
6. Financial:
In addition to meals, room and board, and a stipend for each days work, all participants are provided financial support at the season’s end to help them transition into independent living.

Above all, Strive Hive instills in each individual a sense of pride, motivation, and professionalism.
We teach our participants how to work collaboratively, stay focused, and most importantly, recognize their worth. Our belief is that everyone has the potential to create a brighter future for themselves, which is why our slogan, “Working Together for a Better Future,” reflects the essence of our work.

The Strive Hive start:
We take individuals with us on the road in state of the art built trailers with safe, clean, living conditions. These trailers provide participants with a stable, private space during the 22-week festival season, where they travel with us across California and gain valuable skills.

As we begin this season, we are proud to introduce a few of our participants who embody the strength and resilience of our community.
“Christina, a former incarcerated individual, worked with us last year and has since taken on a leadership role, managing one of our mobile housing units, and managing the “front of house” for one of our busiest concession stands. She now has a permanent residence in addition to going on the road with us, and a car.”
“Steven, who had once been homeless and living in a tent, now enjoys the security of a safe home for the duration of the season, and is currently saving his earnings from working our registers toward buying the instruments and lessons he wants to pursue a career in music.”
“Miranda, 45-year-old grandmother who, after a life-altering car accident, struggled with painkiller and alcohol addiction is now on a path to recovery, rebuilding her life with the help of our program and learning valuable food handling safety, and is actively on her way to getting her license to drive trucks and pull trailers.”
Regardless of the individual goal, Strive Hive offers a secure environment where participants gain practical work experience without the added stress of housing insecurity.
Throughout their journey, they continue to receive support for counseling, sobriety testing, and compliance with any court-mandated requirements.
